Distribution of Biogenic Gas Reservoirs and Optimization of Favorable Zones in the Sanhu Area, Qaidam Basin, China

Based on the drilling results of Taishen-1 well in Sanhu area Qaidam Basin, study proposed new findings conditions source rock, reservoir, and overlaying strata, as accumulation characteristics for biogenic gas. Further, controlling factors gas two favorable zones exploration were identified based comparison geological adjacent areas. The result showed that: (1) rock is lacustrine dark mudstone, LLTOC (lower limit total organic carbon) Q1+2 (the Qigequan Formation) N Neogene) 0.25% 0.40%; (2) ‘self-generation self-storage’ source-reservoir combination developed across all formations due to absence faults development mudstone; (3) studied include burial depth, methane yield, climate conditions. failure owes fact that generated failed support demand accumulation; (4) influenced by southward movement gas-containing groundwater from high potential north, reservoirs are distributed northern slope central sag depression, lower depth about 2119 m; (5) selected natural exploration: Upper Tertiary thermogenic gas-bearing Yahu-Sebei Tainan-Sebei area.
